Presbyterian Support USI- Family Works
Family Works is a Presbyterian Support social service, helping build safer, stronger, more connected whānau/families and communities. When tamariki are safe they feel secure and protected. Strong families have the ability to bounce back from adversity and being connected helps whānau feel supported and included in their communities.

Our services are tailored to meet the needs of each child, young person, parent and whānau, while building on the strengths they already have. Informed by research and evidence, we support people to reach positive solutions.
Counselling and social work
When life, events or issues feel too big for your children/tamariki and whānau, we're here to support you so you can build healthy relationships and grow a strong family.
Support for children and young people
Our Family Works team will provide support and practical assistance for your tamariki and young people to help them feel safe and connected.
Support for parents
There is no guide book when it comes to parenting. Fortunately, our Family Works team offer a number of parenting programmes designed to help you and your tamariki thrive.
Financial assistance
Our team will help you understand money, live on a budget, and access the Youth Payment or Young Parent Payment and work your way to financial stability.

Barnardos
For over 60 years, Barnardos New Zealand has been working with children and families in Aotearoa to build nurturing relationships and resilient homes and communities, so that children reach their full potential.

All children and young people have the right to grow up safe, loved, and with hope for the future, but the reality is that too many children and young people in Aotearoa are impacted by long standing social and family problems that affect their everyday lives. Our mahi across social services, early learning services, and advocacy for children’s rights and wellbeing contributes to Barnardos’ vision of ‘an Aotearoa where every child shines bright’.
We advocate to drive change at the systems-level, so that national laws, policies, practices, and institutions meet the needs of all children and young people and uphold their rights.

We offer early learning services to all under-fives, to create strong foundations for children’s educational and life outcomes.

We provide social support services to children and whānau in our communities facing really tough times – including those who have experienced family violence, addiction, neglect and abuse, and those struggling with mental health issues. Our social services are a continuum, preventing problems before they get too overwhelming, to intensive help in the whānau home to help tamariki thrive, to also providing care for tamariki when it is really not possible to do so at home.

Our local service provision covers the  Christchurch metro area and North Canterbury up to Hanmer, we provide  intensive and targeted social work services, parenting and child safety programmes and supervised contact services.  In schools we provide an intensive wrap around service and Mana Ake workers.  We also work and advocate in family violence prevention.
